Plan Volatility

Plan Volatility

Think of Plan Volatility as a "significance filter" for changes to your TrainAsONE training plan. It helps determine how substantial an improvement needs to be before a new plan replaces your current one.

Understanding Plan Updates

TrainAsONE is constantly working to provide you with the best possible training schedule. When it's time to build or adjust your plan, the system creates numerous potential plan versions. It then evaluates each one based on criteria such as predicted performance gains, risk of injury, and the arrangement of your workouts.

The Role of Plan Volatility

If the system always switched to the highest-scoring plan, even for very minor improvements, your schedule could change frequently and perhaps inconveniently (e.g., workouts moving days for only a tiny benefit).

Plan Volatility sets a threshold: a new plan will only be adopted if it's a certain amount better than your current one. This ensures that changes are meaningful and reduces unnecessary disruption, while still allowing your plan to adapt when significant improvements are identified.

Though, it should additionally be mentioned, that the system keeps track of these better plans and continues to refine them - at some point the many small improvements may accumulate and one such plan might exceed the threshold to become your new plan.
