Do TrainAsONE plans incorporate a taper?

No, but yes...

The TrainAsONE system has no direct, pre-programmed knowledge of the traditional coaching concept of a 'taper' — it does not explicitly schedule a reduction in training simply because a calendar milestone or race date is approaching.

However, as part of its mathematical optimisation, a taper emerges naturally. Its algorithms balance your structural durability against cardiovascular recovery and neuromuscular freshness. This process most commonly introduces a calculated drop in training volume in the lead-up to your target event, tailored precisely to your fitness, training history, and target goal.

Furthermore, due to user feedback, workouts that are mathematically identified as forming part of this pre-race recovery period are tagged as 'Taper' in the user interface (such as on your Calendar) for display and planning purposes.

For practical advice on how to navigate your TrainAsONE taper — including when to trust the system's load modelling and how to listen to your body if you need more rest — please see our dedicated Taper FAQ.
