How do I schedule X days of rest following my upcoming race?

There are 2 ways to get TrainAsONE to plan a period of rest following your race:

1. When entering your race, there is a ‘Post race rest days’ selection drop-down field. This instructs the TrainAsONE planner to schedule with this value as your desired minimum number of rest days. For example, a setting of 2 guarantees at least 2 days of rest following your race; if TrainAsONE calculates that additional days would be more beneficial for you, it will schedule as such.

Two things are worth knowing about that field:

  • Leaving it blank uses your profile default (see below). Setting it to 0 means no rest days, and does not fall back to the default.
  • The number is taken from the race your run is linked to — the race workout the activity matches — rather than from any race simply on the same date.

2. The slightly more lengthy (though more versatile) approach is to adjust the constraints for the days following your race in the calendar. Please see our FAQ, How do I tell TrainAsONE that I cannot run on a specific day? for further information.

Your default and your calendar

  • A profile default: in your Training Settings there is a Post race rest days default. It applies to any race you run — whether or not you entered it in TrainAsONE — when the race itself does not set a value.
  • On the calendar: your rest days are shown as post-race rest days — a green bed marker and a green tint — so you can see the shape of your week before you race, and edit the days one by one after you race. To return to training early, use “Let TrainAsONE plan this day” on the rest day.
