Can the TrainAsONE mobile app connect directly to my heart rate monitor (HRM) or smartwatch to get live heart rate data during a run?
No, at the present time the TrainAsONE mobile app does not connect directly to heart rate monitors (HRMs) or smartwatches for live tracking of heart rate.
Instead, TrainAsONE is currently designed to perform a detailed analysis of your workout after it's completed. If that includes heart rate data, then that is great, but not an issue if not.
If you do wish for TrainAsONE to consider heart rate data in its analysis and plan generation, the correct workflow is:
-
- **Record your run** using your GPS watch (e.g., Garmin, Coros, Polar) or a third-party app that is connected to your HRM. This is the device responsible for accurately recording your heart rate, pace, and other metrics.
(Optional) Use the TrainAsONE mobile app at the same time only if you want to hear pace-based audio cues for your workout's steps and targets.
After your run, your completed activity file is synced from your watch's service (like Garmin Connect or Strava) to TrainAsONE. Our AI then analyses the full data set, including your heart rate, to adapt your plan.
In short: think of your watch as the recording device and the TrainAsONE mobile app as your audio guide.
When the TrainAsONE server receives multiple overlapping recordings (i.e. more than one recording for the same activity), it will determine a recording that it calculates to have the 'best' data, and ignore the others. You can manually change the preferred (valid) recording from your [Activities](https://beta.trainasone.com/activitiesList) page.
