What is a rolling lock and how do I release it?

Sometimes you do not want to lock particular dates — you want "the next few days, always". That is what a rolling lock is for.

What a rolling lock does

A rolling lock always keeps the first N days of your plan fixed and moves forward with it: as your plan advances a day, the lock advances too. So you always have a dependable window of N days that will not change, without having to re-lock dates as time passes.

The difference from locking days individually is simply this: individual locks are pinned to specific dates, whereas a rolling lock follows your plan.

To create or change a rolling lock

  1. On the Training Calendar, click the padlock button in the toolbar.
  2. Choose Lock days.
  3. Select Create a N day rolling lock and set N (or, if you already have one, Adjust existing rolling lock to N days).
  4. Click Apply.

You can have one rolling lock at a time; setting a new length adjusts the existing lock rather than adding a second one.

What it looks like

Each day covered by the rolling lock shows a clock-and-padlock icon instead of the normal switch, and its individual padlock is read-only while the rolling lock owns it — the rolling lock decides. Days beyond the window remain yours to lock and unlock individually, so a rolling lock is not a wall across the rest of your plan. Hovering the toolbar padlock shows Rolling lock: N days.

To release a rolling lock

  1. Click the padlock button in the toolbar.
  2. Choose Unlock days.
  3. Select Release rolling lock and click Apply.

The days it was holding will then be free to change again at your next plan update. You can also release it directly from the Next Workout card on your Dashboard, which shows a Release rolling lock button whenever one is active.
