I'm using an external training plan — why can't I use 'Let AI plan'?
By Dr. Sean Radford•17th September 2026
If your Training Algorithm is set to External Schedule, TrainAsONE treats your training plan as coming from an outside source (e.g., a coach, another app, or a custom plan you've uploaded). In this mode, TrainAsONE does not generate or modify workouts itself — it focuses on analysing your performed activities, tracking adherence, and providing insights.
Why the aiRun button is disabled
- The Let TrainAsONE plan this day button is disabled because TrainAsONE's AI is not authorised to create or modify workouts while in external schedule mode.
- This prevents accidental overwrites of your carefully constructed external plan.
What still works
- Skip — You can still mark a day as a no-run day. Even with an external plan, you may need to skip a session occasionally.
- Edit Training Day Rules — You can still open the pencil/edit dialog on a day to see and adjust settings.
- Activity tracking, analysis, and insights all continue to work normally.
Changing your training algorithm
If you'd like TrainAsONE to take over planning again:
- Go to Training Settings.
- Change your Training Algorithm from External Schedule to one of the AI-powered options (e.g., TrainAsONE AI).
- Save your settings and regenerate your plan.
Note: The Skip button is always available regardless of your training algorithm — everyone needs to take an unscheduled rest day sometimes!
